During the 9 months of gravidity, the product of conception (human in this case), lives and grows in a protect environment: the maternal womb.
Imagine this place as quiet, warm, dark, comfortable, everything needed from a baby is offered without any effort. This is the most suitable ambient for meditation, as this is the perfect “spiritual place”.
Within this environment, this little thing creates his perceptions: eyes, ears, touch, taste and the smell but they are still not “calibrated”= sensitive to determine the frequency and the intensity because they don’t have any reference.
Now think that the new born has just left this comfortable and wonderful place, moving to the outside world. This is a big trauma!
He does not open his eyes, avoiding being blinded. Better would be their gradual adaptation to the light through its filtration with their eyelids closed, he can keep his eyes closed, often tightening them (Have you ever heard parents saying: “When will you open your eyes? Can you see or not? And perhaps bringing a light bulb closer).
And how can they close their ears? Unfortunately for ears there’s no protection.
Imagine how babies perceive the minimum rustle and, we all have experienced the discomfort of hearing a high level sound.
Baby does not have any protection against this sensitivity, he cannot stand his harms on protecting his ears and easily he jumps at every noise.
For touch is applied the same principle, a minimum pressure is perceived as a pain. Imagine his pain on receiving a smack on his bottom.
Smell has a little protection through the nasal secretion, however, it is common of removing them as they are formed.
The only saved sense is the taste, if baby is fed with mum’s milk. It’s warm, sweet and very filling. The only disadvantage: he needs to cry to get it!
That’s it the picture of new born babies during the first days (months) of their lives.
I’ve understood what happens to babies one day when I was visiting my nephew in law. He was with his new born, only few days old, and he was taking the baby in a small place, sunny while pumping a music at high volume; also he hugged him very tightly and telling him loudly: “love of my life”.
With years this child has always had problems of appetite (acceptance), infection of respiratory airways (oppression), tonsillitis (induction) this is up of his age of 5 years.
Suggestions for parents:
The ideal environment for your baby should recreate the maternal womb, therefore it should be silent and dark. You may avoid taking him outside during daytime before his eyes are completely open. If you want to show affection, please do not hug him tightly, while you might fondle them softly on his back. Researches have demonstrated that tenders help developing the Nervous System and hence his perceptions.
Of course, it is helpful for children that dads are actively involved on bringing them up, with all tender they will be able to show.
